Governor Fayose Sacks Permanent Secretary For Closeness To Fayemi

Alokan, who was in charge of the Office of Establishment, is said to have incurred the governor’s wrath after Fayemi attended his (Alokan) father’s burial in February.

Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State has sacked a Permanent Secretary in the state civil service, Tunde Alokan.

Alokan was sacked by Fayose due to his close relationship with former governor, Kayode Fayemi, according to Punch.

Fayose however denied the reports that he had sacked the PS due to his relationship with the former governor.

“Fayemi also sacked some permanent secretaries while in office, so what has happened is not new. 

The governor is not aware that Dr. Fayemi attended Alokan’s late father’s burial, so attributing his sack to that is cheap blackmail,” the governor said on Monday, May 5, 2015, through his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi.

Fayose defeated Fayemi to win the state governorship elections in June 2014.

D'banj: Superstar Heads Back To Court On May 7 Over Debt Case

This will be the second hearing of the debt allegation suit against him by Henry Ojogho who claims that the DB records artiste has refused to pay him the loan of N60m he gave him in January 2013.

On Thursday, May 7, 2015 superstar D'banj will be heading back to court.

Mr. Ojogho also claims that D'banj issued him two cheques as payment of the loan that later bounced when he took them to the bank.

D'Banj was absent at court during the first hearing.

The superstar's representatives in April stated that their client does not owe anyone money.

One Eyed-Beggar Uses Charm On Pregnant Lady Charmed On A Bus In Enugu

Two days back, being Wednesday, on my way back from school, I witnessed something extra-ordinary. If you are familiar with Enugu metropolis, this happened at MSP bus-stop, the one before IMT gate(Institute of Management and technology). As I was walking home approaching the bus-stop to enter a bus, one bus swerved in front of me and people started jumping down from the bus and each person that came down began crying. They were saying a pregnant woman who was in the bus was being charmed and made dumb by a one-eyed beggar who was also in the bus.

As was narrated by one of the occupants who was weeping, she said the pregnant woman who had entered the bus before the the one-eyed beggar had answered a call on her phone and a few bus-stops later, the one eyed beggar who was obviously identified as a beggar because of his music instrument entered the bus. When the pregnant woman wanted to then get down at her destination, she couldn’t speak again, she tried motioning to the driver but the one eyed-beggar who sat beside her told the conductor that they haven’t gotten to their destination and that the pregnant woman was his wife and that she was dumb. This caused confusion in the bus as some occupants of the bus had earlier seen her answer a call and also knew she didn’t enter the bus together with the beggar. The driver then stopped the bus and as the occupants got down and narrated what happened in the bus to the crowd that had obviously gathered cause of the alarm they raised, the beggar still insisted the pregnant woman was dumb and was his wife.

Nepal Earthquake: 101-yr Old Man Rescued From Under Collapsed Building One Week After

Meanwhile, the death toll from the devastating quake continues to rise as the current death rate stands at 7,250, and the number of people injured is 14,122. This is according to the National Emergency Operation Center.

 

One week after the Nepal earthquake that has claimed over 7,000 lives, a 101-year old man was rescued from beneath the rubble of his home in Nuwakot district, just northwest of the capital, Kathmandu.

According to CNN, the centenarian is in stable condition and police do not know how he survived or the extent of his injuries.

Also the Nepal Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat has said that the death toll is expected to climb "much higher" a "there are still villages where we know that all houses have been destroyed, but have not yet been able to reach"

Mahat who was speaking from the Asian Development Bank meeting in Azerbaijan said the quake had caused "incalculable human loss and suffering, with millions of people rendered homeless." while the Home Ministry spokesman Laxmi Dhakal said it would be a miracle if anyone is found beneath the rubble.

The United Nations estimates that more than 3 million people are in need of food assistance, with nearly half of those needing it immediately.

This Is Really Insane: 14-Yr-Old Indian Girl Dies After Being Gang-Raped,Thrown From Moving Vehicle

The crime of rape is now the scourge of India as no passes without a case being reported. Another young girl has been gang-raped and thrown from a moving vehicle.

In what has been seen as one of the most violent and disgraceful act any human could mete out to another, a 14-year-old Indian girl who was thrown off a fast moving bus after being gang-raped alongside her mother, by the driver and half a dozen other men in a bus they had been on, has died from her injuries.

According to Emirates 247, India’s rape culture has hit a new low with this brutal incident in which the girl identified as Arshdeep Kaur and her mother Shinder, were sexually assaulted by more than a half dozen men and thrown off the bus.

The girl and her mother yelled for the bus driver to help them, but instead the driver took part in the brutal abuse of the mother and child.

According to reports, the mother, daughter and a young son boarded a nearly empty bus on their way to see relatives. Almost immediately, the men started attacking the mom and teen girl.

Despite their screams for the bus driver to stop the bus, he sped up and did nothing to stop the attack.

 When the assault finally ended, the driver  finally slowed the bus down, but only so the men could push the women off the bus, badly injuring them further. The teenage girl died from her injuries later on in the hospital.

The grieving mother lamented:

"No one helped. They first pushed my daughter off the bus, then me."

Police have arrested the bus driver, conductor and cleaner of the bus while the murder and rape investigation is on-going.

The mother of the footballer's three children's death is said to have caused a deep pain in the heart of the ex-Manchester United defender and captain.

Ferdinand had paid tribute to his late wife in a statement released on the QPR's website.

In his words, "My soul mate slipped away last night. She was a fantastic loving mother to our three beautiful children. She will be missed as a wife, sister, aunt, daughter and granddaughter. She will live on in our memory, as a guide and inspiration."

A 'Gallant' Police Corporal In Abuja Has Killed His Boss, An Inspector As Well As A Lady They Both Had Interests In.

A police corporal attached to the Karu Police Station in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, decided to show that he is truly a gallant officer when he gunned down a senior officer, an Inspector, over an argument over who was the real lover of a female recharge card seller.

 Not done with killing his boss, the corporal turned the gun on the object of their disagreement and pumped live bullets into the lady and afterwards, shot himself in an apparent murder-suicide.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred in the evening of Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Karu Town, close to the CBN Junction, when the corporal, who claimed he was the lover of the pretty recharge card seller simply known as Chidinma, saw the inspector and the recharge seller sitting together over some bottles of soft drinks.

The angry lover boy, on sighting his 'oga' with his babe, alighted from the vehicle he was in and accosted the Inspector, accusing him of encroaching into his territory.

He was also said to have accused the lady of being unfaithful to him after he had spent so much money on her.

The inspector, being a senior officer, saw the actions of the corporal as an affront and ordered him to get out of the place immediately or be dealt with decisively.

President Goodluck Jonathan has cast doubt on the victory of President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari in the March 28 presidential elections.

Jonathan stated that election results from some areas showed scores that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) couldn’t possibly have gotten.

The outgoing President stated this on Thursday, April 30, 2015, after receiving a report of the elections from the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

“The problem is not whether we lost the elections, that is history, but how do we consolidate our party and move forward? If we are committed and we work hard, definitely the PDP will bounce back,” Jonathan said.

“The PDP is still the dominant party. If you look at the results, the difference is just 2.5 million votes and if you look at the areas where it is perceived that the PDP scored so low, the PDP couldn’t have got those kinds of scores but the elections are over, so the country first. It is not as if Jonathan alone made the sacrifice, it is all of us. I made the pronouncement but some of us are paying the price,” he added.

“The key thing is that we must continue to unite, as a party; we must continue to work hard so that as we go into subsequent elections in 2019, 2023 and so on and so forth, the PDP will continue to come up strong. Even in the interest of the nation, we need the PDP,” Jonathan said.

Jonathan also said that he conceded defeat to Buhari in the interest of and on behalf of the PDP.

Ifeanyi Ubah TAN Founder Reportedly Weeps ver Jonathan’s Defeat In The Villa

Ubah broke down and wept profusely on Thursday, April 30, 2015 while at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

According to reports, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN), Ifeanyi Ubah burst into tears on Thursday, April 30, 2015 over the defeat of President Goodluck Jonathan in the March 28 election.

Ubah broke down and wept profusely while at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, according to Sahara Reporters.

The incident is said to have occurred during the presentation of a report on the elections to Jonathan by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organisation.

Ubah, a former governorship aspirant for Anambra State, reportedly started crying when members of the PDP were speaking on the President’s loss.

He was said to have continued weeping until he was ushered out of the venue.

TAN was the major group that spearheaded the re-election campaign of the President and at one point claimed to have gotten 12 million signatures from Nigerians who wanted Jonathan in office for a second term.

In Edo Court Jails Lucky Igbinedion’s Brother, Former Aide: Naija Why Was Igbinedion granted Bail And The Aide Was Not

A Federal High Court in Benin on Thursday, April 30, sentenced Michael Igbinedion, a younger brother to the former Governor of Edo State, Lucky Igbinedion, to six years imprisonment for money laundering.

 Michael, whose sentence comes with an option of N1 million fine, was convicted on Wednesday, April 29 for three counts  - money laundering, misappropriation of funds and abuse of office.

He was convicted alongside Patrick Eboigbodin, who was Luck Igbinedion’s aide when he was the governor of Edo State.

The presiding judge, Justice A. M. Liman, also sentenced Eboigbodin to 20 years behind walls for money laundering without an option of fine.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned Igbinedion, Eboigbodin and four companies on an 81 counts bothering on money laundering.

‎

They were said to have committed the offences during the administration of the former governor.

The court ordered that the assets of one of the companies, PML Limited, be forfeited to the Federal Government.

"I Became Blind After Drinking Ogogoro" - Ode-Irele Survivor Recounts

Mr. Olorunwa Jero, a father-of-six and survivor of the Ode Irele methanol poisoning yesterday, recounted his near-death experience.

The vulcaniser, narrated: 

“By the time I was brought here, I had gone blind. I could not identify my wife, I could not identify anything. I did not even know when I arrived here.

But I thank God and the management and staff of University College Hospital, UCH, for bailing me out. I can see all of you here clearly. I can even identify the clothes each one of you is putting on.”

He expressed gratitude to the teaching hospital for its timely medical intervention which he said saved his life.

Meantime, UCH management, yesterday, confirmed that five victims of Ode-Irele methanol poisoning were responding to treatment.

The victims were said to have taken the methanol while consuming a local gin.

Confirming that the toxin was detected in the blood and urine of the victims, Professor Temitope Alonge, Chief Medical Director, UCH, said the five victims were transferred to the teaching hospital on April 18 adding that they had regained their lost sight as a result of taking the chemical.

Alonge, who said this while speaking with newsmen in Ibadan, warned people to be wary of taking local gin so as to avoid s similar unpleasant experience.

The 8 men chose to face their executioners and spent their last minutes on earth praising God and singing songs which included ‘Amazing Grace’.

On Wednesday morning, Pastor Christie Buckingham – who read Chan and Sukumaran their last rites – said the 8 death row inmates walked out onto the killing field singing religious songs in the moments before they were executed. Pastor Buckingham said the men conducted themselves with ‘dignity and strength until the end’. Another pastor, Karina de Vega, said it was a ‘beautiful experience’.
