Quick-fire second-half brace by Godwin Saviour, and a goal apiece from Kingsley Sokari and Isacc Success secured a first win for the coach Manu Garba side.

Captain Musa Muhammed almost opened scoring for the Flying Eagles inside the opening two minutes when his fierce shot from 25 yards came off the inside of the woodwork.

Nigeria dominated the first half and were twice at the mercy of Korea DPR goalkeeper Jong Hung, who again denied Muhammed from a dead-ball situation and then kept out Taiwo Awoniyi’s follow-up as the half wore on.

Coach Ye Gun’s side’s resilience was broken four minutes after the restart when the Korean goalkeeper failed to challenge Saviour for a Bernard Bulbwa cross and the FC Sport forward broke the deadlock.

Nigeria moved 2-0 up three minutes later as Taiwo Awoniyi’s played in Saviour in a breakaway move and the latter’s piercing shot found the back of the net.

Sokari grabbed his first goal of the tournament on 71 minutes as a corner kick found the Enyimba International FC midfielder by the edge of the area and he unleashed a belter into the top left corner of goal.

The Eagles rounded off scoring with a swift forward play culminating in Awoniyi trading passes with Success before the Granada FC striker smashed home from an acute angle.
