Nigerian Army Denounce Fake Online Recruitment

The Nigerian Army on Wednesday said its attention had been drawn to the activities of a syndicate extorting money from unsuspecting members of the public under the guise of enlisting them into the army.



This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Acting Director of army Public Relations, Sani Usman, a colonel, in Abuja.

Mr. Usman said the fraud was being carried out through a bogus website: Nigerian Army Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) 2015/2016 online (www.nierianarmydssc.com), claiming to be from the Nigerian Army.

He said the syndicate was believed to be headed by one Balogun P. Ehi with a mobile phone number of 08130967705.

Mr. Usman said, ”While efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend members of the syndicate, the general public should note that the Nigerian Army has not begun any form of commissioning or recruitment exercise into the service.

“Similarly, it does not charge potential candidates money for whatsoever reason.

“The public is, therefore, encouraged to report any person or group suspected to be defrauding members of the society, claiming to be agents of the army for commissioning or recruitment into the service”.

According to him, whenever there is need to recruit or commission officers, announcements are made through print media stipulating guidelines for such an exercise.

“Interested candidates are, therefore, advised to avoid being duped and wait until the army puts vacancy advertisement through newspaper publications or announcements in the media”, he said.

Mr. Usman advised the public to shun dubious offers of recruitment into the officer cadre, especially through the internet, and report such persons to the nearest army formation or police station.

Over 20 Travelling UNN Students Die In Car Accident

TWENTY students of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State, were feared dead in a multiple road accident late on Tuesday, eyewitnesses said on Wednesday.



Our correspondent learnt that the victims met their deaths on the Nsukka-9th Mile Expressway while travelling to their homes in a commercial mass transit bus after the UNN authorities had directed the students to embark on a compulsory two-week break.

A statement by the university’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Okwun Omeaku, had directed the students to vacate the school with immediate effect.

Although the UNN management had described the closure as a “mid-semester break”, students told our correspondent that the school was shut to avert an action said to have been planned by the students to protest the lack of electricity and water in their hostels.

The students had been directed to vacate their hostels before 6:00 pm on Tuesday.

'We No Go Gree': Abuja Prostitutes Protest Incessant Arrest By Officials

More than 500 commercial sex workers in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, took to the streets protesting the incessant and indiscriminate arrests and extortion of their members by the FCT Special Task Team on City Cleaning and Management, reports say.

The prostitutes under the aegis of the National Association of Nigerian Prostitutes (NANP), expressed their anger after more than 3,000 of their members were arrested in various raids in the last three months by the FCT officials in different parts of the capital city.

Parading the town with different placards with inscriptions like:

'Ashewo work na work'; 'Allow us to hustle for our daily bread'; and 'Legalize prostitution now', the scarlet ladies showed their dismay at the way their members are molested daily by different task forces and security operatives.

One of the ladies who said her name is Loveth, narrated their experiences to our source:

"We are Nigerians too and we only go about seeking our daily livelihood, so I see no reason why they should be harassing, arresting us and extorting money from us.

These same men are the ones who patronize us but during the day, they will be molesting us.

What crimes have we committed? Many of us are graduates who could not secure jobs, so we hustle to make ends meet. We have families and responsibilities to meet, so they should allow us to work and make money.

Many of us do not like selling ourselves for money but what can we do? We are not thieves; we are not members of the political class who steal Nigeria's money. If the government want us to stop what we are doing, they should provide jobs for us. We are tired of the daily harassment.

Enough is enough; prostitution should be legalized in Nigeria."

A woman is facing the heat at the moment after it emerged that she beat up her 10-year-old houseboy over missing money.

There has been anger and consternation after a concerned Nigerian put up the story of how a mistress in Ilorin, Kwara State, allegedly brutally beat up her 10-year-old houseboy over a missing N500.

A concerned resident put up the report on a social media platform, narrating how the woman who is said to be fond of beating up the poor boy, took her excesses to the extreme by leaving the poor boy with a swollen eye after she discovered that the money was missing from what he was supposed to delivered from his hawking rounds.

The woman reportedly beat the boy blue and black and dared any neighbour to come to his rescue.

Is this not a clear case of child abuse?

NIMASA Never Paid Me N1.5bn Monthly For Maritime Security – Tompolo

Ex-militant leader, High Chief Government Ekpomupolo popularly called Tompolo, has denied allegations that the past administration of President Goodluck Jonathan paid him N1.5 billion monthly to secure the nation’s maritime domain.



The pioneer chairman of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Tijani Ramalan, had made the allegation on Tuesday in Abuja and called on the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to probe the payments, which he said commenced shortly after Jonathan won election in 2011.

Speaking through his spokesperson, Comrade Paul Bebenimibo, the former militant leader accused Ramalan of merely seeking desperate attention in the hope of getting a job in the current dispensation.

The statement reads in part: “My attention has been drawn to a publication in the Leadership newspaper of Wednesday June 3, 2015. In the said publication, one Ahmed Tijani Ramalan made very wild, unsubstantiated allegations against my person that the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) pays me the sum of N1.5 billion monthly for the protection of the nation’s maritime domain.

“Without any further stress, it is obvious that the said Ramalan is merely seeking an undue attention. And whatever that attention is, I make bold to say Ramalan, who claims to be the pioneer chairman of NIMASA, is not just economical with the truth but his outburst is an exhibition of ignorance and mischief, which should be ignored by all”.

end of their service year is usually celebrated for them as they are quickly replaced with new intakes almost immediately by the cartel, the source said.

Ex-NIMASA Chairman Reveals Tompolo Gets N1.5 billion Monthly From The Agency

Ramalan told Leadership that the agency’s financial contract with the former leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND), Mr. Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, is in the tune of 1.5 billion Naira.



The contract is for Tompolo’s men to protect the Nigeria’s maritime areas. Ramalan went on to say that despite the huge sum of money paid to the ex-militant leader, Nigeria still loses over 400,000 barrels of crude oil daily.

He called on President Muhammadu Buhari to terminate the contract which was the brain child of the Goodluck Jonathan administration.

He said, “Over 400, 000 barrels of crude oil are being stolen daily from our shores under President Jonathan; yet we had a government that has the Navy, the Army and the Air Force, and the government of Jonathan decides to hand over the security of our maritime waters to Tompolo at a very exorbitant amount of money.

“And these same people that are given the job of our maritime security are the ones that are collaborating with the international shipping companies to steal our oil.”

And if Buhari does not do so, we will be the first to start attacking him. There is no basis to give that kind of billion naira job to ex-militants,” he declared.

One 19-year-old (Name withheld ) in Asaba, Delta state has allegedly impregnated his own mother while testing a love charm. According to reports, the boy, popularly called Ekanem, had gone to a native doctor, who allegedly prepared a love charm for him to use on his mother and one of the matrons in the college where he is a boarding student.



While speaking to journalists, the suspect’s mother said, “I did not know how it all happened, but all I can say is that a young man who looked like my son suddenly found his way into my room at the wee hours and I was speechless,” adding that the whole exercise had remained inexplicable.

Speaking at the police headquarters to journalists, the suspect said, “I am deeply sorry for all that has happened, I did not mean to do this. I saw myself falling in love with her after the love charm prepared for me. I have to confess because I know by so doing, God will touch her mind and I know she will forgive me.

I suddenly found that I was making love to mum when I thought the charm will not work, and upon the revelation, I threatened to kill her and the matter was reported to the police”, he said.

Grant Me The Privilege Of Nominating A Minister From Ekiti For Your Govt. – Fayose Writes Buhari

Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to grant him the privilege to nominate a ministerial candidate to fill the slot of the state in the Federal Executive Council.



The governor, who made the request in a letter to the President dated May 31, 2015, said if the request was granted, he would nominate a worthy and competent Ekiti professional for appointment in the federal executive council.

“Should the request be favourably disposed to, I shall be happy to nominate a worthy and competent professional who can always oblige your Excellency and your cabinet the benefit of a second opinion in the serious business of governance”, he said.

Fayose pointed out that his letter was written based on the declaration made by President Buhari that he would put the overall interest of the country above political partisanship and biases.

The governor also noted that his letter was on the strength of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria section 147 sub (2) and (3) which states that, “Any appointment to the office of the Minister of the government of the Federation shall if the nomination of any such person to such office is confirmed by the Senate, be made by the President.

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, has issued new electricity tariffs that became effective for commercial and industrial consumers from 1 April 2015 and that would become effective for residential consumers from 1 July 2015. The new tariffs are in the Multi-Year Tariff Order, MYTO, 2.1 for the period 1 April 2015 to December 2018 and they replace the tariffs in MYTO 2 for the period 1 June 2012 to 31 May 2017.



The charges are in two parts, there is a fixed monthly charge and there is a charge for electricity consumption, the energy charge, which is measured in kiloWatt-hour, kWh. We give below the charges for residential consumers using single phase or three phase meters, category R2. Charges are given for four electricity distribution companies, DISCOs, namely Benin DISCO, Ibadan DISCO, Ikeja DISCO and Eko DISCO.

For Benin DISCO, the fixed monthly charge for residential R2 category is N750 in 2015, N900 in 2016, N1080 in 2017 and N1296 in 2018. The energy charge will rise from N12.54 per kWh to N18.46 per kWh, an increase of 47 per cent, on 1 July 2015. The energy charge will be N17.02 per kWh in 2016, N18.23 per kWh in 2017 and N15.23 per kWh in 2018. For Ibadan DISCO, the fixed monthly charge for residential R2 category is N625 in 2015, N750 in 2016, N900 in 2017 and N1,080 in 2018.

The energy charge will rise from N14.23 per kWh to N18.00 per kWh, an increase of 26 per cent, on 1 July 2015. The energy charge will be N17.36 per kWh in 2016, N19.60 per kWh in 2017 and N17.93 per kWh in 2018.

President Muhammadu Buhari Extends Condolences To Onitsha Residents Over Tanker tragedy

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his sympathies to Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano and the people of Onitsha over the recent tanker fire tragedy in the state which claimed about 69 lives.

Buhari extended his condolences on Monday, June 1, 2015, via a statement released by media aide, Garba Shehu.

“My deepest sympathies are with you at this most trying time,” the President said.

He further described the incident as a sad and unfortunate loss, made even more unfortunate by the number of families who are currently mourning the loss of their loved ones.

The accident occurred on Sunday, May 31, when a fuel-laden tanker heading from Awka to Asaba rammed into the Asaba motor park and burst into flames.

Lord Of The Fake: Herbalist Arrested For Running Fake Money Making Factory In Ibadan

A con man, Ismail Adesina, who plies his trade as a native doctor while defrauding people as well as making fake currencies has been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command when the operatives stormed his hideout in a village called Ojoku in Badeku, Ona-Ara local government area of the state.

Recovered from Adesina were thousands of fake pounds, naira, euros, dollars and other foreign currencies which he produced, as well as two Toyota Camry cars with number plate AA 125 DK and AA 207 DH and a Nissan Almera lift back model with number plate AGL 882 DF.

According to the state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Katsina, the 43-year-old Adesina's hide out also served as a location where criminals hide off after being declared wanted by the police while the herbalist and his gang perpetrated series of crimes in the compound which is shielded by tall trees and thick bushes.

The CP revealed that there are two houses in the compound with at least six rooms adorned with various statues to give the impression that the place is being used as a shrine with the walls decorated with the group’s description of gods to scare victims.

Adesina was unlucky to be arrested at the scene while his accomplices managed to escape.

During interrogation, he informed the police that he was a herbalist and that he had been involved in several financial crimes under the pretext of helping victims to cure ailments and barrenness.

Very Terrible: Armed Robbers Rape Virgin Nurse During Night Attack In Igando Are Of Lagos

An 18-year-old auxiliary nurse identified as Bola, will definitely live with the scar of losing her precious virginity to a gang of four robbers who raided the hospital where she works and gang raped her alongside with other nurses on night duty.

According to the young lady who has put the blame for her trauma on the doorsteps of the Egan, Ikotun Igando Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State located hospital, for not providing adequate security.

The robbers reportedly had easily gained access into the hospital located at Santa Maria Street in the area, after scaling the fence at about 3am, overpowered the security guard and tied him with ropes before locking him up in a room. They then proceeded to raid the hospital, taking turns to rape the girl and other nurses, injuring many of them in the process, before carting away valuables.

Bola narrated how she lost her virginity to the four gang menafter four robbers who stormed the hospital, took turn to rape her.

It was learnt that this year alone, robbers have attacked the hospital three times.

Bola said:

"The owner of the hospital did not provide security for his staff. I tell you, by this laxity, I and other staff have been subjected to mental torture.

60-Yr-Old Herbalist Arrested For Sleeping With Daughters & Nieces

A 60-year-old herbalist, Tajudeen Awoniyi, has been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command, for allegedly having sex with two biological daughters and two of his nieces, the girls all being between 14 and 17 years.

According to the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Katsina while parading the suspect, Awoniyi allegedly committed the sordid act Moniya in Akinyele local government area of the state, stating that the herbalist was always in the habit of having carnal knowledge of the girls especially when he was drunk.

However, the native doctor has vehemently denied ever having sex with the young girls, claiming he was shocked at the confessions of the girls to the police t the state police headquarters at Eleyele, Ibadan, when he never committed the crimes levelled against him.

But the girls have all narrated how their father and uncle has been sleeping with them severally.

One of the victims said:

"My sister and I are the nieces to Tajudeen Awoniyi. His daughters came to our house and asked us to follow them to their place. On getting there, their father told us he would give us soap by midnight which we must use to bathe.

Woman Files Sexual Assault Charges Against Monkeys For Pulling Off Her Bikini - See Wahala

A group of monkeys are accused of attacking a woman and removing her bikini before touching her inappropriately.
The tourist of the United Kingdom, traveled to Spain, and was thrilled when she arrived in Gibraltar. She never imagined that she would be fondled by a group of wild macaques. 23-year-old Melissa Hart was watching the wild monkeys at a zoo in Gibraltar, when two of them approached her and started pulling her clothes



It did not take long for the monkeys to rip off her bikini. Other tourists looked on and laughed as she struggled to break free. “I felt totally helpless as these two monkeys grabbed and touched my most private parts. Then, one of them pulled off my bikini top,” Hart said.

“I was being sexually assaulted and these people all thought it was a big joke,” she added. A zoo warden finally heard her screaming and came to rescue her.

Angered by the attack, Hart tried to file a police complaint against the monkeys. However, the police did not seem to take her seriously.  They also made light of the situation. “Do you think you could pick out your attackers in a line-up?” One officer asked.
