The signing of the 28 artistes by Glo is so far the biggest endorsement deal by any corporate organisation in Nigeria. It is also expected to signal a huge boost to the entertainment industry as the selected artistes cut across Nollywood, comedy and music industries.

Company sources indicate that the new ambassadors are hip hop sensation Wizkid, popular comedians Ayo Makun (AY) and Bovi Ugboma, award-winning actor OC Ukeje, Patience Ozokwo (Mama G), Odunlade Adekola, fast-rising Marvin Crew of Koredo Bello, Reekado Banks and
Hadizah Blell (Di’ja).

The 19 ambassadors whose contracts were renewed include Nigeria’s leading music stars D’Banj, Peter and Paul Okoye (PSquare), Chinedu Okoli (Flavour), Jude Abaga (M.I), Wande Coal, Omawumi Megbele, Bez Idakula, Burna Boy, Ego Ogbaro, Sammie Okposo and Sani Danja.

Other ambassadors who made a return as Glo brand ambassadors are comedian Basketmouth, actresses Ini Edo, Funke Akindele and Helen Paul. Others are Ime Bishop Umoh, John Okafor (Mr Ibru), Chiwetalu Agu and popular newscaster, Bimbo Oloyede.

Apart from the generous financial package which the ambassadors will enjoy from Glo, the endorsement deal will also give additional fillip to their various careers.
Glo as an emerging global brand offers a big platform for the artistes to further promote their career through the company’s heavy marketing communication activities in local and international media.

They will also have the opportunity to feature in Glo’s highly popular shows such as ‘Slide and Bounce’ and the ‘Glo-CAF Awards.’

In addition, the financial reward will also empower the artistes to enhance their career through music promotions and productions.

It will be recalled that Globacom pioneered the use of musicians and Nollywood actors as brand ambassadors and influencers when it signed on the likes of Lagbaja, Osita Osadebe, Oliver d’Coque and Nelly Uchendu after it launched operations in 2003. Other organisations have since copied this strategy.

The company said the 28 ambassadors will be unveiled at a ceremony soon.
