Nigerians And Others On Death Row In Indonesia Were Executed By Firing Squad While A Filipino Woman Was Spared At The Last Minute

The 8 condemned prisoners on death row in Indonesia have been executed by firing squad.



BBC reports that the executions took place in Besi prison on the island of Nusakambangan early on Wednesday morning local time (Tuesday evening Nigerian time).

Among those executed were Nigerians Raheem Agbaje Salami, Sylvester Obiekwe Nwolise and Okwudili Oyatanze.

Various governments and international bodies had appealed for their release, however President Joko Widodo denied celemncy.

A Filipino woman also due to be executed was reportedly spared at the last minute.
