NDDC BOSS CONDEMNS POOR JOB ON ELEME ULTRA MODERN COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTRE

The Acting Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC) Dr (Mrs) Christy Atako told newsmen shortly after inspecting the Eleme Ultra Modern Community Resource Centre project that the standard of job executed by the contractor was unacceptable to both the NDDC and other partners.

 The resource centre is embarked upon by the NDDC in collaboration with the Eleme Local Government Council and the Grassroot Empowerment Network.

Dr Atako who queried the competence of the contractor said the contractor appears to be executing the job in his own way and style and not according to specification, “all the pillars are not straight, I don’t think they really took their time to construct them, this is unacceptable.”

The NDDC Boss particularly frowned at the absence of the project engineer who would have offered some explanation” the engineer is not even here, I suspect he is running away because he knows that we will ask him a lot of questions.”

She therefore, summoned the contractor for a meeting with all the partners on the project for a way forward “we have to look at the project again and be sure that we have the right design and to ensure that the scope of work done by the contractor is in accordance with specification.”

Dr Atako however, commended the concept of the project pointing out that it was designed to stimulate development in the community in areas of ICT and other empowerment skills.

Briefing the Acting Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, the facilitator of the project, Valerie Young-Harry explained that while the project is designed to develop the capacity of youths and women in the areas to be self reliant, it will also be self sustaining.

The resource centre comprises 1,000-seater multi-purpose hall, 300-seater conference hall, 2 no 20-seater ICT training rooms, 20-seater entrepreneurial training room and a 20-seater cyber café, e-library and restaurant, others are a 20-room guest house, fish farm, a 6-room staff quarter and sporting facility.

Sacked Education Minister Joins ASUU Strike

Mr President, thank God you sacked her from your Cabinet...she is a foolish woman and part of the ASUU unresolved strike 

  

Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufai, the immediate past education minister who was sacked from the federal cabinet last month, has joined the ongoing strike by Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, which she failed to resolve while in office.

Though the former minister had returned to the institution which she was a lecturer before the cabinet post – Bayero Universities, Kano, BUK – she could not resume work because of the industrial action.

“How can she teach? She has joined the strike. She has no choice. How can anybody teach? Don’t forget, ASUU National President is from BUK,” said Public Relations Officer of BUK, Mustapha Zaharaddeen.

When the question was directed to Mrs. Rufai, she responded: “It is an unfair question. Ask my university.”

Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufai, the first female education minister from the northern part of Nigeria, was fired from the federal cabinet alongside eight other ministers last September 11.

COZA Experiences Mass Reduction In Attendance of Worshippers

The situation of things at the Lagos branch of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), situated in Maryland, Ikeja. Sources revealed that members of the church appear to be deserting their place of worship, as of last Sunday September 29, aggrieved members and deacons have left the church over the sex scandal between their Pastor, Abiodun Fatoyinbo.



Sources say population of the church has been reducing drastically on weekly bases, since the pastor got involved in sex scandal with female members in his such as, Ese Walters, Franca and others.

It was revealed that people now notice empty seats everywhere around the church, as Pastor Biodun continues to wait to hear from God on the matter, and many are beginning to find it hard to believe that God will ever speak to the pastor.

His members had since called on the pastor to come clean on the adultery allegations, but he prefers to remain silent until God says otherwise. A situation that has led the church to be divided, as many insist that the pastor should speak out, while others are saying he should keep quite till he hears from God.

BlackBerry, once the biggest name in mobile and worth more than $200 billion at its peak period in 2007, may soon be sold for less than $5 billion, according to a statement issued by the former smartphone giant.


BlackBerry on Monday said it has signed a Letter of Intent to sell the company to a group of investors led by a Canadian insurance company, Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited for $9 per share, in a deal that would total $4.7 billion. Fairfax currently owns about 10 percent of BlackBerry’s shares.

Trading of BlackBerry’s stock was halted last week when the company announced that it had more than $1 billion in unsold inventory, planned to layoff half of its workforce, and would soon exit the consumer smartphone business, and when trading resumed, the stock rose over 2 percent to $8.95. Prior to the announcement shares in the troubled smartphone maker company were down more than 5 percent for the day.

Fairfax Financial, sometimes called the Berkshire Hathaway of Canada, is a holding company whose primary business is in insurance. It is led by Prem Watsa, a chemical engineer by training who has run the firm since the mid-1980s.

NDDC DISTRIBUTES COMPUTERS, MOSQUITO NETS TO SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES IN N/DELTA.

The NDDC has begun the distribution of computer sets and treated mosquito nets to schools and communities across the Niger Delta region.

Under the arrangement, 200 computer sets have already been donated to all the polytechnics in the Niger Delta Region while another set of 120 computers and accessories have been distributed to several colleges of education in the Niger Delta region.

Acting Managing Director/CEO, Dr. Atako disclosed this while handing over computer sets and accessories as well as mosquito treated nets to beneficiary secondary Schools and communities respectively in Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River state.

“We decided that we will send computer sets to selected secondary schools in the Niger Delta Region, we felt that we don’t need to limit ourselves to tertiary institutions because of the importance at the grass root level”

“Science and technology drives the economy of any nation because the world is a global village. We cannot do that if we don’t have the facilities, knowledge and the technical know how.”
According to her, it was for this reason that the NDDC is collaborating with other agencies to ensure that teaching and learning is achieved in schools across the region.

The Commission, she said also strives to build a healthy population, which gave rise to the distribution of mosquito net as a way of protecting the populace from mosquito bites and malaria.

“Health is wealth, no matter the infrastructural development you bring to any community if the people are not healthy or active they will not enjoy the benefit of those facilities and that is why we indentified malaria as the greatest enemy of the region, hence our intervention”.

Receiving the items chairman of Odukpani Local Government Area, Mr. Stephen Asuquo thanked the NDDC for the gesture and assured that the items will be judiciously used.

Man and 7 Friends Take Turns in Raping Lover After She Dumped Him

The police have arrested a jilted man for allegedly conspiring with seven other men to gang-rape his estranged lover, a 28-year old woman (name withheld) in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.



The man was identified as Stephen Obi. He was charged with conspiracy and rape before Ejigbo Magistrate’s court, while seven of his accomplices are still on the run.

Some of the seven men on the run are still threatening to kill the lady if she continues to pursue the matter.
The 23-year old Obi claimed he works with a brewing firm in Lagos and hails from Umuahia in Abia State, while the victim is from Imo State, southeast Nigeria.

The relationship between the lovers allegedly went sour after the woman asked Obi to marry her.

Obi allegedly told the lady that he was not ready to marry her because she was five years older than him, and wanted the relationship to continue.

The victim refused and said since he was not ready to marry her, she was no longer interested in the relationship.

POLYTECHNICS, COLLEGES OF EDUCATION, OTHERS IN N/DELTA RECEIVE COMPUTER SETS FROM NDDC

The Acting Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Dr Christy Atako said the commission has donated over 200 computer sets and 120 computer accessories to each of the polytechnics and colleges of education in the Niger Delta region respectively, besides the 19 prototype students hostel blocks being constructed by the NDDC across the region.

Dr Atako said this, when she paid a courtesy call to the Vice Chancellor of the Micheal Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, Umahia, Professor Hillary Odo,.

“We have always believed that education is the bedrock of any development, there is no economy that can develop without the education sector that is why the Commission has been relentless in its intervention”.

According to the Acting MD “we talk a lot about our youths being leaders of tomorrow, what kind of leaders can we groom if we don’t provide a place for them to articulate their thoughts and enjoy the benefit of democracy so that they will believe in this country Nigeria”.

Dr Mrs Atako expressed dissatisfaction over the quality of job done on the students’ hostel project being constructed in the university and directed the contractor to correct the defects immediately.

“I insist that our contractors must adhere strictly to standards because for us in NDDC there is no compromise on quality.”

Dr Atako said the commission was ready to pay contractors promptly, but warned that they must be ready to show value for every payment made.

Earlier the Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Hillary Odo thanked the NDDC for its intervention in the education sector urging other agencies of government and organizations to emulate the commission.

The NDDC Chief Executive Officer also inspected the completed Nworie, Solar electrification project and the internal road network in Ukwa/West, Abia state and commended the contractors for a job well done.

A Nigerian Is Beaten to Death by Five South African Policemen

The prosecutor’s office in Limpopo presented its arguments in court on a case where five South African policemen are accused of beating a Nigerian man till he died.



“I put it to you that you beat him, he fainted and you resuscitated him. He woke up and… you beat him again. You also sprinkled water on him,” the prosecutor posed to the officers.

The victim of the cruel beating, Mr. Onyechiabi Iwuaka died as the five took him to Polokwame police station.  The five policemen have been arraigned to answer murder and assault charges.

Izuchukwu Ajuobi is a beautiful woman. At 37 and with two children it is intriguing that her beauty still attracts men.

Pastor Biodun Is been Challenged By COZA Church Members to Defend Adultery Allegations

Concerned members of Common Wealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) have expressed their disappointment over their pastor’s refusal to address the allegations of a sexual affair between him and a former church member.
A member of the church who gave his name as Israel (surname withheld) said the pastor should stop beating about the bush but come out to tell his members the whole truth.



Their disappointment was particularly apparent because the ‘apostle’ neither accepted nor denied the alleged affair.

Fatoyinbo has been in the news for allegedly sleeping with one of his church members who gave her name as Ese Walter.

The wind blew and the chicken romp was exposed over the weekend when the lady in a tell-it-all article exposed her escapade with the man of God.

Ese in the controversial article entitled, “My affair with Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of COZA,” explained how she savoured the ‘John Thomas’ of the preacher for years before things fell apart between them.

However, the pastor has neither come out to refute or accept the allegation but claimed that when he asked God, God told him to keep quiet, a statement, which his teeming members have described as ‘immaterial.’
“Now read my lips, I know there are people here that are not part of our church, read my lips, we are going to speak but we are consulting to come out with a robust reply.

“Before then, I will not say anything, but I owe it to you as members that have made me proud and have made God proud,” he told his congregation during the Sunday Service.

I was going to be silent on this sad, pathetic but true (in many shades) allegation against Pastor B and his popular and trendy ministry.

My silence was borne out of respect for the kingdom of God and things that pertain to God.

But all this changed when I heard the horrific tales of people who had been through the mess of this blind man, and the fact that he had no moral motivation to deny or accept the allegation; all he showed on Sunday was a demented swagger and perverse talk.

My sole purpose in writing this piece is to open the eyes of the world and believers to the hypocrisy and nonsense behind the pulpit, and to plea that these wolves and blind men stop deflating the faith of people who Christ died for.

I am a Pastor, a full time minister at that, and I shall not sit back while the name of my God, the ministry, and the works of other shepherds is brought to disrepute by the activities, action and inaction of a few blind men behind the pulpit.

I am tired of the nonsense of religion crying out, “touch not my anointed”; does this mean we cannot rebuke ourselves when we err, this much Paul did to Peter when he erred in Galatians 2:11
“But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed”.
