US Discontinues Training Of Nigerian Military At Request Of Nigerian Govt.

The US government has discontinued its training of the Nigerian military, according to a statement released yesterday, December 1st. US govt said it was terminating the third phase of the training which was designed to help build capacity for Nigerian military to counter Boko Haram activities, following a request by the Nigerian government.
 
The first two phases of the training was conducted in April and August this year. However with the termination of the military training, the US government says it would still continue its extensive bilateral security relationship with Nigeria despite the termination.
 
The US and other countries became more involved in the security apparatus of Nigeria after the Chibok girls were abducted in April. Find the US press statement above… 

There Are 52 Female Suicide Bombers On The Loose In Maiduguri? Says Youth Vigilante Group

There are 52 female suicide bombers on the prowl in Maiduguri, a member of the youth vigilante group has revealed.



It could be recalled that two suicide bombers were unleashed on Maiduguri last week causing the death of over 35 people.

Two others were unleashed on the town this Monday causing six deaths and 36 injured people.

Speaking on Monday after the two attacks on the Maiduguri Monday Market, the source said the youth vigilante group had made it difficult for the insurgents to visit massive mayhem on the town with the incessant search of vehicles and people of the town.

He said: “One of the female suicide bombers arrested revealed to them (youth vigilante) that presently in Maiduguri there are 52 female suicide bombers who have been commissioned to explode bombs at high density areas.”

Female Suicide Bomber Attacks Maiduguri Market Again

The troubled town of Maiduguri was again thrown into pandemonium today as a female suicide bomber hit the popular Maiduguri Monday market.



A military source told punch that, “We just cordoned off the area.

“We cannot give the details on the number of casualties now as we are still evacuating the corpses from the scene.”

The attack has caused pandemonium in the town as many parents have besieged schools to pick up their wards.

The suicide attack happened about 11:30am on Monday.

The feud between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and President Goodluck Jonathan might have been caused by vice-president Nnmadi Sambo, Nigerian Tribune has learnt.




Citing sources in Abuja, the Ibadan-based newspaper said Obasanjo had sent emissaries to Jonathan that he would back his 2015 ambition if he (Jonathan) agreed to drop Vice-President Namadi Sambo as his running mate, in favour of Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido.

This was said to have emerged as some common friends of the former president and Jonathan attempted to talk Obasanjo into dropping his opposition against the president.
The sources also told Nigerian Tribune that the former president had confirmed the proposal at a recent encounter between him and Jonathan.

“The president could not give Obasanjo any affirmative answer, because he believes that the request was uncalled for,” a source said, adding that Jonathan believed that dropping Sambo would cause ripples in his camp.

“You don’t try and solve a problem and create another in the process,” a source said, adding that Sambo had worked assiduously with Jonathan without frictions.

While the feud between Obasanjo and Jonathan deepens, the former president have found unlikely friends in the All Progressives Congress, several of which have visited him frequently lately. Party leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has gone to see Obasanjo twice in the last two months.

Dr Myles Munroe And Wife Ruth To Be Buried December 4

Bahamas Faith Ministries (BFM) founder, Dr. Myles Munroe and his wife Ruth who died on Sunday, November 9, 2014, will be laid to rest on December 4, 2014.



A copy of the burial plan revealed that the burial services for the 9 people that lost their lives in the crash actually commenced on Sunday, November 22, 2014, with the home going programme for the co-pilot, Franhkan Cooper. The Parks family who lost their son, his wife, and the unborn baby was buried on Wednesday, November 26, 2014. Stanley Thurston who piloted the jet was interred on Saturday, November 29, 2014. Myles’ partner and senior vice president of the ministry, Dr. Richard Pinder will be laid to rest on Tuesday, December 2, 2014.

Finally, a memorial service would be held on behalf of the Myles on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 while their burial would be on Thursday, November 4, 2014. According to Bahamas Faith Ministries, Dr Myles and wife’s bodies will be in a closed casket at their memorial service next Wednesday.

BFM spokesman Kevin Harris said people would not be able to view the bodies out of respect for the family, who decided not to have open caskets after identifying the bodies.

“They were IDed by all the family members, and all the family have confirmed that there will be a closed casket ceremony,” said Harris.

May their souls continue to rest in perfect peace.

There was an explosion at the Central Mosque in Kano this afternoon as Muslim faithfuls were holding their Friday Jumat service. It’s the same Mosque where Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido usually leads prayers but he wasn’t there this afternoon. Many are feared dead.

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, who usually leads prayers at the Mosque, was reportedly absent when the explosion occurred.

Details of casualties are still sketchy as of the time of publishing this report but many people are feared dead.

A large crowd of onlookers had also gathered to see what was going on.

Mali Records Second Ebola Death

A nurse at a private clinic in Bamako has become the second victim of the Ebola virus in Mali, radio reports said on Wednesday.



According to the reports, the nurse was infected by a patient from Guinea who was treated at the same clinic and has since died.

Mali has only been lightly affected by the outbreak of the deadly virus, which has infected over 10,000 people and caused nearly 5,000 deaths, mostly in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

The reports say there was one other death from the virus in Mali in October in the western city of Kayes.

15 people have now been quarantined.

Wow World Tallest Man Meet World Shortest Man For Guinness World Record Day

 The world’s tallest and shortest men in the world met for the first time today to commemorate Guinness World Record Day in London, UK.

 

Today is The Guinness Book of Records’ 60th anniversary. In 2004 the annual became the world’s best-selling copyright book. Guinness World Record Day was set up to commemorate the date.

 

Today hundreds of men including Sultan Kösen, who holds the Guinness World Record for tallest living male at 2.51 m, and Chandra Dangi, the shortest man in history measuring only 0.546 m, met to celebrate the occasion.

Mr Kösen from Ankara, Turkey, became the world’s tallest living man in 2009, when he took the title from 63-year-old Xi Shun, from China, who measured 2.361 m in 2005.

His growth resulted from a tumour affecting his pituitaru gland. His stature is such that he must use crutches in order to walk. Kösen lives with his parents, three brothers and sister, who are all of normal height.

You’re A Disgrace To Governance, Festus Keyamo Tells Governor Uduaghan

Lagos lawyer, Festus Keyamo, has said the Delta state governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, is a disgrace to governance for playing “Ping-Pong” with the affairs of the state with ex-militant, Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo.



Mr. Keyamo, in an open letter to the governor, alleged that Mr. Uduaghan interfered in the duties of the state electoral commission during the last local government chairmanship election by replacing the Warri South-West candidate with Mr. Tomopolo’s younger brother on the eve of the election.

The lawyer said the governor summoned one Weyinmi Omadeli to his private residence in Warri on Thursday, October 23, 2014- barely 48 hours to the election- and informed him that he had given orders to the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC, to replace his name with that of George Ekpemupolo, the younger brother of Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo.‎

“For you to summon Mr. Omadeli on the eve of an election and inform him that his name had been replaced smacks of high-level interference with the job of DSIEC. It clearly shows that DSIEC is only an appendage of the Delta State Government”.

The lawyer listed five reasons why the action by the governor was wrong and said that the governor’s decision “is capable of igniting a crisis that will affect all of us”.

“The decision was taken whimsically and it is unjust, unfair, illegal and ungodly. Consequently, it is
unacceptable and will be challenged legally and politically,” Mr. Keyamo said in the letter.

“It also depicts the sorry and comatose state of DSIEC in the hands of the State Government (it is the same all over the country, anyway).

But, why did DSIEC not have the courtesy to write or summon him to break the news (assuming, but without conceding, that they have the powers to do so?) Sir, you are not the Chairman of DSIEC and you have no business replacing one candidate with another in an election,” the lawyer wrote.

He said it was wrong ‎that Mr. Omadeli’s name was substituted without cogent reasons.

The Nigeria Police Force Have Confirm 47 Killed, 79 Injured In Yobe School Explosion

The Nigerian police on Monday said 47 people were killed while 79 others were injured in the Monday morning  bomb attack on Government Senior Science Secondary School, Potiskum in Yobe State.

The police said a suicide bomber disguised as a student detonated the explosive at the school’s assembly ground  at 7.45 a.m.

 

Police bomb experts are already at the crime scene while the victims have been taken to hospital, officials said.

Reports said the students were converged for the morning assembly when the incident occurred.

The Government Science Secondary School, Potiskum is one of the densely populated boarding schools for boys, located very close to the Potiskum General Hospital in the heart of town.

Potiskum is the largest town outside Damaturu, the Yobe state capital.

The attack on the high school came six days after a similar suicide bombing was targeted at members of the Shiite group, Islamic Brotherhood of Nigeria, also in Potiskum.

That bombing took place at Faydia Islamic school, ran by the Shiite. It is located near the old market in Potiskum.

The news dedicated to Winners’ Chapel International (WCI) and its plans to establish school in the UK, the BBC introduced under the headline “Nigeria ‘witchcraft’ church in bid to open Kent school”.

 

It is provided that the church, which attributes poor discipline to evil spirit and witchcraft, wants to establish a school in Kent.

According to the report, human rights activists and National Secular Society categorically opposed the move asking the authorities to turn down the school bid.

The report recalls a recorded incident when during the service Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, David Oyedepo, slaps a woman who he accused of witchcraft. “Devil!”, the clergyman shouted.

The European chapter of the church, where Oyedepo’s son David Oyedepo Junior is the pastor, is located in the UK,  and it saw the investigation of 27 cases of child abuse related to witchcraft this year. Several groups raised alarm over the teachings of the church, which says in its official website that “disobedience is as terrible as witchcraft”.

The suicide bomber is said to have been a student.

Only last week a suicide bomber killed more than 20 members of the Shiite sect during a religious procession.

Dr Myles Munroe And His Wife Dead In Plane Crash

THE leader of Bahamas Faith Ministries, Dr Myles Munroe, and his wife Ruth have been killed in a plane crash in Grand Bahama.

The crash took place this afternoon and killed all nine people on board the private jet. The plane reportedly struck a crane at the Grand Bahama Ship Yard, exploding on impact and crashing into the ground near a junkyard area.

The Department of Civil Aviation reported that the plane was a Lear 36 executive jet which departed the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) for the Grand Bahama International Airport.

The plane left LPIA at 4.07pm with nine people on board and crashed while making an approach for landing at Grand Bahama International Airport at 5.10pm, the Department of Civil Aviation said.

A police on source on the island previously said two were feared dead. However, police sources later confirmed that all those on board had been killed.

The police source also said it was believed the group was heading to a conference hosted by Pastor Munroe.

The identities of the other people on board have not yet been confirmed.

The statement said while the department was advised of fatalities, it was awaiting confirmation from police on if there were any survivors.

The Grand Bahama Airport Company Crash Fire Rescue Department responded to the incident, and the Police and Bahamas Air Sea Rescue (BASRA) are presently on the scene.

The department said a full scale investigation will start tomorrow morning at daylight, which will include the Department of Civil Aviation Aircraft Accident Investigation Prevention Unit.
