Fashola Buries Father....

Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola this afternoon buried his late father, Alhaji Ademola Fashola, at the Vaults and Gardens Cemetery, Ikoyi, Lagos, following his demise on Monday at the age of 80 after a protracted illness.

 

A lying in state was later held in his honour at Surulere Senior Secondary School after his corpse had arrived at his Ladipo Labinjo Street, Surulere residence from the mortuary in black Merceses Benz SUV at about 11:55am.

Among the early callers at his residence were Senator Gbenga Ashafa, Rasak Okoya, Chief Molade Okoya-Thomas, Alhaji Lateef Okunnu, Subomi Balogun, Surulere Council boss, Tajudeen Ajide, Kayode Opeifa, Joe Igbokwe, Onigbongbo LCDA boss, Babatunde Oke, representatives of Arewa and Ndigbo, Service Chiefs, Commissioners among others

Members of Eko Club who were also present at the lying in state, describing him as a jolly good fellow, with prayers that almighty Allah grant him aljannat firdaus.

Prayers were offered for the repose of his soul at the Lagos Central Mosque, Lagos Island before he was taken to the Vaults and Gardens for burial.
At the grave side, the Muslim clerics offered prayers for Pa Fashola’s repose and prayed God to grant him eternal rest before he was lowered to the grave in the presence of the governor, Babatunde Fashola and other siblings.
The burial was also witnessed by prominent Nigerians who came to pay their last respects to the deceased.

Boko Haram Sets First Lady’s Mother’s House On Fire

The ongoing rampage by members of the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram, continued on Friday in Damaturu, Yobe State, as the terrorist group set the residence of the mother of the First Lady of the state ablaze.

This came less than 24 hours after a similar treatment was visited to the communication masts of some telecoms companies in Damaturu, Bauchi, Maiduguri, Kano and Potiskum.

It was gathered that Governor Ibrahim Gaidam’s mother-in-law’s house was first attacked six months ago during which the occupants were robbed of their jewellery.

Breaking: Rivers State Deports 113 Non-Indegenes To Their Home States

Nigeria’s Rivers state government has sent to their home states, some of the 113 beggars and lunatics removed from the streets of Port-Harcourt, the capital city. And the state has warned it will soon embark on another removal exercise.

The Chairman of the committee, Mr Mina Jamabo, said of the 113 beggars, destitute and lunatics removed from the streets,some had been taken to the state’s rehabilitation centres for treatment.

Jamabo said that non-indigenes had since been repatriated to their various states, while the indigenes would be treated by the government until they were fit to re-unite with their families.

FRAUD: Actress, Bukky Wright, Loses N40m To Con Men

Top actress and producer, Bukky Wright, is in tears over the loss of over N40m to conmen who approached and talked her into buying a property in Lagos recently.
 
The Yoruba actress and Chivita brand ambassador was allegedly still in shock over the huge amount of money she was skillfully swindled of a couple of weeks ago.

Bukky was said to have been approached to acquire a house by a close family friend, the said person was so close to Bukky to the extent that every secret is kept with her.

Bukky, out of ignorance, came to Nigeria, inspected the said property, having been very satisfied with it, and wrote a cheque of N40m to the swindlers and since then nothing has been heard about it.

When Bukky tried all avenues to retrieve her hard-earned money back, it was said to have yielded no positive result and just recently, Bukky decided to swallow the bitter pill by bringing a closure to the deal gone sour.

“It was at the beginning of this Ramadan season that Bukky resolved to leave everything in God’s hands,” a source reveals.

Believe It Or Not, A Woman Choked (To Death) Her Boyfriend With Her br**sts

A Washington woman is accused of using her br**sts to smother and kill her boyfriend after an altercation at their mobile home.
 
Donna Lange, a 51-year-old woman from Everett, Washington, is believed to have suffocated her boyfriend to death with her br**sts on Saturday, Jan. 12. Deputies, called to the Airport Inn trailer park at 12:45 a.m. for a disturbance report, found medics performing CPR on Lange’s 51-year-old alleged boyfriend, who was later pronounced dead at Swedish Hospital.

Witnesses claims they saw Lange throw her boyfriend down in the back of the mobile home. She was later found by witnesses with her chest covering the victim’s face. Police noted the size difference between Lange and her boyfriend – she was 5-feet, 6-inches and 192 pounds, he was 5-feet, 7-inches and 175 pounds.

Other women around the world are known to have allegedly used their br**sts as weapons.
In November, German lawyer Tim Schmidt claimed his girlfriend tried to smother him with her br**sts.

Though there is no official statement yet from Globacom on its deal with the Nigerian Afrobeat maestro, sources within the telecoms giant’s corporate headquarters in Lagos said Lagbaja put pen to paper on a lucrative deal worth several millions of naira.

Lagbaja performed his first major task as Glo ambassador on Wednesday 20 March during the unveiling of the network’s new strap line tagged “Unlimited” in Lagos. This was followed same day with the release of a Glo theme song, “Unlimited” – a song that sees the masked one team up in a rare collaboration with Glo ambassadors and pop duo, PSquare.

Dean Qiongxiu, 66, said she discovered the reptile clinging to the wall of her bedroom with its talons in the middle of the night.

“I woke up and heard a strange scratching sound. I turned on the light and saw this monster working its way along the wall using his claw,” said Mrs Duan of Suining, southwest China.

Mrs Duan said she was so scared she grabbed a shoe and beat the snake to death before preserving its body in a bottle of alcohol.

The snake – 16 inches long and the thickness of a little finger – is now being studied at the Life Sciences Department at China’s West Normal University in Nanchang.

Snake expert Long Shuai said: “It is truly shocking but we won’t know the cause until we’ve conducted an autopsy.”

A more common mutation among snakes is the growth of a second head, which occurs in a similar way to the formation of Siamese twins in humans.
Such animals are often caught and preserved as lucky tokens but have very little chance of surviving in the wild anyway, especially as the heads have a tendency to attack each other.

Husband Absconds After Wife Gives Birth To Triplet In Ogun

A 40-year-old man, Biodun Akapo, a resident of Afojupa Village, a suburb of Owode-Egba town of Ogun State, is on the run because his wife delivered triplets.
His wife, Bose Akapo, a 30-year-old woman,delivered the babies at Ore-Ofe Maternity Home in the town on July 24
Bose was left stranded by her husband who on hearing the news of the delivery, fled and is yet to appear at the hospital. Luckily, she was only able to pay her bills with the assistance of the traditional ruler of  Owode-Egba town, Kolawole Sowemimo.

She said she never envisaged carrying triplets in her womb.
Narrating the story, the 30-year-old house wife, Bose Akapo, who already has two children aged 5 and 8, said her husband was not at home when labour commenced. She explained that she was assisted to the hospital on a motorcycle by a neighbour.
“I was taken to hospital on a motorcycle by a neighbour when I started noticing signs of delivery, because my husband was not at home then. But surprisingly, I gave birth to triplets and when the news got to my husband he failed to show up till date,” she said.
The mother said she had to contact the traditional ruler of Owode-Egba, who rendered assistance in providing clothing and other medical materials for the babies.
She lamented that her husband, on hearing the news about the delivery of the triplets, absconded and has since remained incommunicado.
The housewife, an Ibadan indigene like her husband, said they have been living together as a happy couple in the village for over ten years. She pleaded with her husband to return home.
“I don’t even know his whereabout till now, but am begging him to come home for the sake of these innocent babies,” Mrs. Akapo said.
She also used the opportunity to appeal to government, individuals, and groups to come to the family’s aid for the welfare of the kids, just as she sought for employment to alleviate the family’s financial plight.
The woman and the triplets are in stable health condition and have been discharged from hospital.
Speaking on the development, the traditional ruler thanked God for the safe delivery, and also called for assistance from government and other Nigerians for the upkeep of the kids.
Mr. Sowemimo expressed optimism that the state government would attend to the needs of the family based on the administration’s known concern to the welfare of the citizens and residents.

Police Confirms Aluu4 Were Set Up

The murder of four University of Port Harcourt students by a mob in Aluu community in Rivers State has so far been justified by some people who believed the victims were actually criminals, but a statement by the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar has confirmed one of the stories we’ve heard about what went down in Aluu community the day the four UNIPORT students were murdered.

In a statement yesterday where the IGP excused the police’s non-intervention in the murder despite getting to the scene on time, he said the victims were not robbers, but they were set up by a man named Coxson Lelebori Lucky who was owing one of the victims an undisclosed sum of money.

Reports say 21 suspects have already been arrested by the police.

Now that it has been confirmed that the victims were not robbers and one of them was actually owed, how do you plead for justifying their murder?

ALUU 4 Murder: Suspects Plead Not Guilty As Prosecution Arraign One More Suspect

Trial of suspects in the beating and burning to death of four University of Port Harcourt, UNIPORT students in Aluu, Rivers State continues as plaintiffs have withdrawn and presented fresh charges against suspects on trial over the incident.

Binnga Lordson of Theartre Arts, Ugonna Obuzor (Geology), Mike Toku (Civil Engineering) and Tekena Erikene were murdered by an out of control mob on October 5 2012 in Aluu, Ikwerre local government area of Rivers State.

A High Court presided over by Justice L.L Nyordee in Port Harcourt sitting over the matter granted the leave to substitute the charges following Prosecution’s request after adding one more suspect to the 11 earlier on trial.

Thursday’s hearing also advanced the trial to the reading of the reviewed charges to the current 12 suspects who all pleaded not guilty to murder and negligence/refusal to prevent felony.

Counsel to the 9th Defendant and former Chairman of Nigeria Bar Association, O.C.J. Okocha (SAN) had argued that the Prosecution, under any law, has no liberty to withdraw and substitute original charges.

The Prosecution led by Solicitor General of Rivers, Rufus Godwin, had appealed for the substitution on the strength of the addition of one more suspect to the case.

Deciding on the argument, Justice Nyordee eventually granted the leave of substitution of charges.
The case was adjourned to 15th August when consideration for bail for the suspects would be the first issue to be determined in the continuing case.
